Thanks for registering with www.sierra-filabres.com. This Cortijo is located in La Alcarria, only 10 minutes drive from Lubrin. La Alcarria is a beautiful area of Lubrin. The plot of land with an orange grove and lots of water is very well tended and it also has olive, lemon and almond trees. We are finding that, people looking for a Spanish holiday or retirement home, are looking at areas such as Lubrin which is only 45 minutes inland from the Coastal resort of Mojacar. Lubrin is a small village of about 1200 of the most warm and welcoming people I have ever met. The Lubrin parish is made up of about 20 hamlets scattered throughout an area of about 100sq kms of the Sierra Filabres mountains some 2000ft above the Costa del Almeria. Lubrin is in the process of change from its agricultural roots to a blend of low key commercialism and tourism. Construction and the associated trades of cabinet making and metalwork along with 3 banks,2 mini supermarkets, 3 Butchers, 3 Bakers and an Ironmongers complete the commercial aspects. Market day is on a Wednesday and is more a social rather than a commercial event. With respect to tourism Lubrin offers the experience of a number of regular Fiestas but its main asset is its people. Lubrin is like a time warp where the family unit and friendship is paramount and takes precedence over all other matters. The ruined farmhouses (Cortijos) scattered throughout the parish and the old village and hamlet houses and cottages are readily offered up for sale by the owners for renovation or re-building.
